Hannah's first trip to the ocean!!!!

When we bought Hannah a pool the first summer we were home with her, we knew that she was going to love the water.  She splashed and swam non-stop for hours.  Then we took her to the Indiana Dunes and she loved playing in the sand and watching the waves come in and splashing against her body.  So... we decided to skip the fishing this summer and take Hannah to the ocean- to Gulf Shores, Alabama!!! We talked about it for weeks, trying to explain to her what it would be like.  We told her that we would be able  to play in the sand everyday and ride the waves.  When it finally came time and we got in the car to go, she said, " I want to go to the beach!!!!!"  So that we did- it took us a little longer than expected thanks to traffic, but we finally made it and we couldn't have asked for better weather and a better place to stay.  Oh and of course, having Jeff, Michelle, and the girls with us made it even better.

getting closer..

almost...

stopped to get some wet sand!!

We never really created any fabulous sand castles, but she had a great time digging in the sand and making sea creatures with some of her tools.

Anniversary Night...Roger took me to Lambert's Café- the home of the throwed roll!!!

If you have never heard of it, you need to visit it when you are in Alabama or Missouri.  It is your typical southern style restaurant, but the big difference from the others is they throw rolls to you from across the room.  I had been there before with the Harmans but Roger had never been.  So when we sat down, he says, "Ok, what do we do to tell them we want a roll."  I told him that you wait for someone to say fresh rolls and then put your hands up.  That is exactly what happened.  The kid pointed at us from across the restaurant and pulled his left arm back and here came the roll.  It was a mighty fine line drive right at Roger.  Unfortunately, he didn't catch it perfectly but we did still get to eat it.  The kid told me that they go through 5,000-10,000 rolls a day. I didn't ask how many they have to pick up from the floor. It is quite a busy place.  We waited for about an hour and were number 464 and there were probably 300-400 people that came after us.

This is what your drink comes in!!!

The people waiting outside to get in....

and this was the people the other direction.

Great catch!!!

If you look carefully, you will see the kid behind the balloon string ready to throw.
